Day 2: Amman – Jerash – Amman

After breakfast, we will visit Jerash, one of the most ancient Greco – Roman Cities. (Approx. one hour drive).

Jerash is the best preserved Roman city outside of Italy, with an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years. Hidden for centuries in sand before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, provincial Roman urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East, comprising of paved and colonnaded streets, temples, theaters, public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls pierced by towers and gates.

We will proceed to Amman for a City Tour. Visiting the old city, we will also go to:

  • The Archeological Museum at the Citadel
  • The Roman Theater
  • Folkloric Museum.

Amman, the modern and ancient capital of Jordan (formerly known as Rabbath‐Ammon), was once the capital city of the Ammonites and later became the Greco‐Roman City of Philadelphia, one of the Decapolis cities. Originally over seven hills, Amman now covers at least 19 hills. Amman is a delightful mixture of old and new, often referred to as the “White City”, the result of the while stones of the country used in construction. Amman is a busy commercial and administrative center with many modern amenities.

Overnight in Amman.

Day 3: Amman – Petra – Aqaba

Breakfast at hotel and check out. Transfer to The Red Rose City, Petra. (approx. three hours’ drive) This will be the start of your journey to the biggest attraction in Jordan, one of the Seven Wonders of the World -- Petra.

Important: The visit of the City of Petra is a walking tour of approximately 4 miles over uneven terrain.

In Petra, experience the lost Rose Red City of the Nabataeans. A UNESCO Heritage Site and one of the New 7 World Wonders. Legend says the lost city of Petra was built by magic. In a spectacular setting deep inside a narrow gorge, you will see elaborate buildings and tombs carved out of the solid rock – an eternal tribute to a lost civilization.

Transfer to The Red Sea City Aqaba. (approx. two hours drive)

Overnight in Aqaba.

Day 4: Aqaba

Breakfast will be followed by a free day to spend at your leisure.

Aqaba is Jordan’s only seaport. Located in the southernmost tip of Jordan on the Red Sea, Aqaba is a blend of sun, sea, and mountains that provides a unique backdrop with pleasant year‐long climate. Aqaba also boasts historical trails of famous Nabataean trades, as well as those of Lawrence of Arabia and for those who are interested in what is under the water, Aqaba has some of the most pristine coral reefs in the Red Sea. Your tour guide will be able to recommend the best way to spend your free time depending on your preferences.

Overnight in Aqaba.

Day 5: Aqaba – Wadi Rum – Madaba – Mt Nebo – Dead Sea

Breakfast, check out and transfer to Wadi Rum, the largest and most magnificent of Jordan’s desert landscapes. (Approx. one hour and 15 minutes’ drive) Enjoy two hours 4WD drive into the desert.

Wadi Rum is a vast, timeless and hauntingly beautiful valley. Wadi Rum is the largest and most magnificent of Jordan’s desert landscapes. In this sublime place, the uniquely shaped mountains rise out of the rose‐red desert sand. Geologists think Wadi Rum resulted from a great crack on the surface of the earth caused by an enormous upheaval. Some of the ridges are a thousand feet high and are topped with domes worn smooth by the desert winds. The Wadi Rum area has been inhabited since prehistoric periods.

Transfer to Madaba (Approx. four hours drive). On arrival in Madaba we will visit the church where some of the finest Byzantine mosaics are found and see the mosaic old map of The World and Jerusalem.

In Madaba, “the City of Mosaics”, remains of the Roman Road can still be seen in the midst of the modern town, but it is the Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics of which Madaba is best known. At the Greek‐Orthodox Church of St. George the earliest surviving original map of the Holy Land exists. It was made around AD 560 by the artist Salamos.

Later we will transfer to Mount Nebo (approx. 20 minutes drive). On arrival to Mount Nebo, we will see the Memorial of Moses and the presumed site of the prophet’s death and burial. Mount Nebo is also known as Siyagha. It was here that was the final station in the life of Prophet Moses, the “friend of God”. He journeyed here from Egypt with his people, using the King’s Highway and passing by Wadi Musa (Petra) where he struck the rock to bring forth water. Transfer to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. (Approx. 30 minutes drive).

Overnight near the Dead Sea.

Day 6: Dead Sea

Breakfast, followed by another free day of leisure time.

Dead Sea: At the lowest spot on earth lies the Dead Sea, 400 meters below sea level. As the name suggests, the sea is devoid of life due to an extremely high content of salt and minerals. However, it is these same elements which give the Dead Sea its restorative powers, making it the ideal place for Spas and Medical treatment. It provides the raw materials for the Dead Sea Bath Salts and Mud known worldwide. Bathing in these unique waters will be a highlight of your trip.

Overnight near the Dead Sea.
